In my book, a “great climate” is one that keeps me comfortable at all times, without much of a chance of either sweating, or being cold.
To have such an even climate, a few key ingredients are required:
a location near the equator, to eliminate seasonal variation.
a high altitude in that equatorial setting, so that it doesn’t get too hot.
a dry inland location benefiting from a so-called “rain shadow” built by mountains that take the precipitation and moisture away as it moves in from the ocean.
I have found that kind of place. It’s called Ecuador. Similarly wonderful climates would also be found in parts of Peru and Colombia, as well as Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, and Ethiopia.
Just keep that altitude high.
