The best pre med Major is the subject that appeals to you. Bio is very common among pre meds. Almost all of the required pre med courses are included in the Bio curriculum.
But -
most Freshman pre meds don’t get into med school, only 1 in 7, on average. Even at colleges that enrol nothing but high school standouts (valedictorians, AP scholars, etc.) the dropout rate from pre Med (voluntary or involuntary) is very high.
No matter how bright you think you are, pre med is very hard. Your competition is at least as bright and only some will succeed. Pre med separates those who are willing to put in the hours from the daydreamers.
If Bio is your thing, by all means major in Bio. Look ahead four years, however, to ask yourself what you’ll be doing with a Bio major if it’s not Med school.
