That’s a toughie :P .
It has been exact 4 years in KGMC and just another 5 months are left before I graduate. Now, when I look back its kind of funny, how our lives have changed.Let me narrate my experience from the very beginning.Secured 289 AIR in 2012 AIPMT. Counselling results were out… KGMC it is… I jolted!!! on 6th of august 2012, got admission(here, it is our birth date. ). Truly mesmerized by the grandeur of 100 year old architecture, I walked through the campus of the college along with my dad. After going through a hefty admission process, came the part where physical examination was supposed to be done and unfortunately (as the trailer of a 4.5 year long movie was previewed) the examiner was the HOD of general surgery. The scene was pretty intimidating. Any how we all survived all the abuses and scoldings, but that incident surely took a piece of my soul( at least for 4 yrs) :P
Then the journey began, first year was undoubtedly the best year till now!( albiet it had some retaliation period where we all regret joining med college, but still it was worthy to be cherished) It had all…. medical literature( come here and you will get to know it ;) ), the ragging period( very strict rules in our times… shortly trimmed hair, clean shave all the time, formal wear, long apron, the discipline… and a lot more), making new friends( the most amazing and important part),Then the Final year! its still on… and I must say its tough! surviving and passing final year in one shot is my dream now. We all are scared. Even for our seniors(post graduates now) passing final year was an achievement. fingers crossed.
Frankly speaking, you will get to experience everything! From Students’ politics( its UP :P)to college drama, researches to extra curricular ….so on and so forth! It largely depends on you. You can surely have the kind of life you want here, but only if you are determined to do what you want. You want to do a part time job… surely in second year…. you want to read and learn anything( new language/instrument) second and third year.. best times. You want to go on long trips… go ahead( i traveled most of the UP, nepal, himachal. chandigarh, sikkim, goa, rajasthan MP and a J&K trip is up next… all in these 4 years….) You want to be a die hard CHARSI( nick names of book worms here) … most welcome! You see your future in politics…. dude! you will get a lot of opportunities… Want to prepare UPSC… go ahead!
P.S. : Its like any other medical college and things largely depend on what your mind wants to yield! 250 students in a batch… you will get to see a lot of variety and spices here!
Harsh Maheshwari, Final Year... fingers crossed!
