I would say that the hostel facilities of kgmu (for ug) are an epitome of Govt. college hostel.
New Chakravarti Hostel: For the first year, we have one room( large enough) between two students. Each of us get a separate almirah, table and chair. 2 mess and canteens. Common bathrooms.
Trans Gomti hostel :For the second year (aka honeymoon year), single room for everyone… yeah! Even the day scholars get the rooms. But the hostel is approximately a kilometer away from the campus. So, fortunately this forces our parents to buy us bikes. This hostel is pretty good. There is good provision for Mess and canteen and of course parking.
Sardar Patel Hostel: For the third and the final year most of us have to share the room and its like living in a ghetto. (One small room for two students). But the great part is that… you get to live in the campus, the reading room and the library are very close and you get a gym in the hostel itself. Also, if you get good marks in the third prof you can opt for the single room facility in the final year. In S.P. Hostel, we have ample facilities for mess and the playing ground is just behind the hostel.
Overall good, but with respect to the infrastructure of rest of the college, there are lacunae which need to filled.
Harsh Maheshwari, Final year... Check.
