I joined Dams for AIPG
Got 61k rank
REASON: they make us write down the important points without caring about how much we understand and how strong our concepts become.
A dams student is supposed to memorize the notes to score well. And that's what I tried- memorising without understanding.
I started hating the Indian PG exam.
Got married in that time.
My wife came up with the idea of USMLE.
We started preparing for USMLE. Building concepts became my sole purpose. I got to learn a lot from my wife ( Dr. Namita bung) . She was a quick learner .. Shockingly quick. For what I took 2 hours she took less than 1 hour.
Since my medical second year I have been studying other ( medicos) studying and scoring pattern. I always found it interesting to know how a student who studies for lesser duration scores more and vice versa. With all these years of experience, I developed the unique art of identifying the smart ways a fast learner uses to score well. Smart ways even the student using it is unaware of, reason being either they think its normal or they never thought about all that.
I started learning how to learn quickly from her. Worked on my strengths and weakness ( by this I mean strengths and weakness of my study style)
End resultI scored well in step 1.
The most surprising result being: in 2019 I gave neet PG just for exam practice. Didn't read a single hour specially for Neet PG.My results shocked us - 87.3 percentile (~18k rank out of 143k appeared)That's with just the step 1 preparation which wasn't complete when I gave neet PG.Gave neet PG in January and step 1 in May. That's 4 months before my step 1.I could have got a seat in many colleges. But I didn't register for the counseling. As we wish to spread the same. That's why we have started personalised student mentoring. Our present student started her prep in November 2018. She contacted us in July. As she couldn't score above 50% in mock test. After starting with us her results improved from 40% to 75% in 3 months.
In short in 8 months she was at 40% and then suddenly bounced to 75%. Surprisingly we taught her for 30 minutes in these 3 months. Rest of the time devoted to her was to make her study and perform like a topper.I am extremely good at giving multiple choice exams, strategy making, identify strength and weakness of a student and planning. My wife is very good at learning, teaching and communication .Combined our strengths is the perfect recipe for success.
