In general, major’s have no effect in Med school Admissions, UNLESS, you will be applying to a DO/PhD or MD/PhD program, or, are planning an Academic / Research Career.
The Gate Keeper is the MCAT exam - you could be a 21 yo Art major, and just got admitted because your STEM / Science GPA was Above 3.8 (4.0), AND, your MCAT Score was ABOVE the 97th Percentile.
On-the-other-sticky hand - If, you are 30 yo, with just a History BA, and No Pre-Med STEM Credits, and, with an Average 2.9 GPA, and No MCAT score … Duuuuuuude … your XBox is calling you … Hurry. THAT would be a definitive N-O. Case closed.
