I m sorry but 144 is nothing in a medical collage and especially govt.medical collage. I m saying this because after introduction of neet last year, cut off mark was 145 for general. By scoring 144 you didn't qualify for neet and medical seat and too government, needs atleast 470–500 marks minimum.
For SC/ST, mark is little less I.e around 350 or less but seriously 144 worth of Nothing in medical examination.
Now a days, I think anything less than 500 is just not much for mbbs government seat in India. And this differ from state to state. But still if taken into ratio, 30000 total medical seat( all government and private), for 13 lakhs + students. And govt. Much less. So competition is damn too high.
